HOME RULE FOR IRELAND.
MESSAGE TO YOUNG LIBERALS.
[By Electric Tblegbaph—Copybight] [United Pbebs Association.] (Received 2 p.m.) London, March 29.
Mr Lloyd George handed a deputation of young Liberals the following message: "Democracy is on trial. The right to govern is challenged by an obliarchy invoking the aid of the House of Peers and the officers of the Army. Upon the courage and resolution displayed at this juncture by the friends of liberty, in all classes depends the question whether the country remains free, or, in effect, will be enslaved by military despotism." A persistent report is abroad that Mr McKenna will succeed Colonel Seely. The Chronicle lias reason to fear that Generals French and Ewart will persist in their resignation, not liecause of any difference with, the Government concerning the relations of the Army and civil power, hnf on a point of honor.
