THE GISBORNE FLOODS.
THE WATERS SUBSIDING.
Gisborne, March 25
The floods on the Waipaoa river is subsiding. Beyond breaking the Public Works temporary bridge, no damage was done at Motu. The floods are the highest for years. A report from. Port Awanui states that the '.Waipu river is in heavy flood, 1 causing loss in sheep. The extent of the damage is not yet known, The water is nearly up to the decking on the Waiapu bridge, both approaches to which have been washed away. The river is now going down.
