Mr J. Vigor Brown, M.P.', has been nominated for re-election as Mayor of Napier. His popularity as Mayor is evidenced by the fact that every Councillor signed the nomination papei for his re-election.—P A.
Mr J. Heslop, who has been a member of the Taranaki Land Board for the past twenty years, tendered his resignation at yesterday’s meeting, as he is about to leave on a trip to England. Mr Heslop, who leaves Taranaki at the end of next week, is to be entertained by Eltham residents at a bam quet this evening.
Mr W. L. Kennedy, who leaves Stratford on April 7th on a trip to Canada and England, leaving Auckland b ythe Niagara on the 10th April, yesterday tendered his resignation or his seat on the Taranaki Education Board. Mr Kennedy said it was a wrench to sever his connection with a
■foody in which he had been interested fdv twenty-four years, but as he would be away for six months his i only course was to resign. The resig>T nation was accepted with regret. Mr ’ and Mrs Wilfred Perry, of Tututawa, are also paying a visit to England, and leave by the same vessel as Mr Kennedy.
