Second Edition. The Opunake Line.
TE ROtl ROUTE CHOSEN. MANAIAS BRANCH LINE. (By Telegraph—Special to ‘Post.”) 1 Wellington, ‘March 25. The Government has decided upon what is known as the Te Roti route. This is midway between the reserved and the Commission routes. There will be a branch line to Manaia, which will be made as soon as the line reaches Kapuni. The first sod will be turned at Opunake, although" a commencement will be made about Te Roti. Mr Wilkinson, member for the district, has cordially invited members of the Ministry to Opunake to turn the first sod. The date will be arranged on Mr Massey’s return from the South next week-. v- -v •' ’ The Chief Engineer estimates it will take about two months to complete the plans, when the work will be put in hand. It is the intention of the Government to push on the completion of the line.
