SCOTLAND IN WELLINGTON.

The aviator, Scotland, was unfortunate again this evening, his intended flight at Athletic Park being abandoned, on account of the gusty iv.ind and threatening . heavy rain, which later fell in torrents. On Saturday afternoon, when it was announced that 1-Jie airman would not fly, some of the crowd became demonstrative, and gathered round his machine in a threatening manner. The police intervened and dispersed the crowd. Some hustling took place, however, in the course of which Sergeant Murphy had his wrist' broken.

The publication of the route to by followed in the round-the-world air race, which is being promoted by the authorities of the San Francisco Exhibition in May, 1915, shows that the journey will involve a successful transAtlantic flight, and it is pointed out that the winner will be entitled to the prize offered, by the "Daily Mail" for such an achievement, as well as to the £I,OOO offered by a lady for the accomplishment of the same feat. ,The route to 1)0 covered in the 90 i days allowed for the journey of 22,000 miles starts from the Exhibition grounds. The first stage is to be New York, and thence to Belle Island, between Newfoundland and Labrador. From this point the Atlantic will be crossed by way of Cape Farewell, Greenland, and .Iceland to Storooway in the Hebrides. The airmen will then pass by way of Edinburgh, London,, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and will follow the TransSiberian railway through Manchuria to Vladivostok. Koria will bo their next objective, and then, crossing to Kobe and passing over the Sea of Japan, they will head' north for Kamchatka, in Siberia, and for East Cape. They then cross the short stretch of water to Alaska, and finally reach San Francisco by way of Vancouver and Seattle. Tn addition to the first prize of £20,090, there is to lie a second prize of £6,000 and a third of £4,000. The balance of the £OO,OOO which is offered is to be divided among the other competitors.
