HIS MAJESTY’S PICTURES.
The new programme screened at Bernard’s Theatre last night was an excellent one. The star film, “Fall ot Constantinople,” is one of the best colored dramas yet screened here. The supporting pictures are well above the orodinary in point of merit; in fact, the whole programme must bo seen to be thoroughly appreciated. The same programme will be repeated this evening.
To-morrow will he Friday, and the famous Mary Pickford will bo seen in the star drama, “The Bishop’s -Carriage.” It was not altogether Nance Olden’s fault that she was an inmate of the Charity Home, neither was she to blame for being forced to escape. Falsely accused of theft, and cruelly punished, she decided to rid herself for ever from the matron’s persecution. How this is done and her subsequent deeds in dodging the law makes for an excellent picturegrara. Eventually Nance gets married. The music by the professional orchestra is the direct American Tango and dramatic sensations, and is played perfectly. A new “Haake” piano, with organ and piano effects, was in use last night for the first time, and the improved result was generally commented upon. TOWN HALL PICTURES. There will be a complete change of programme to-night at the Town Hall. The star picture of the evening “The 1 Paper Trial” is a 3000 ft drama of a sensational crime that is mystifying. The gtfilty one is brought to bay through the shrewdness of a clever and heroic girl. This programme will be supported by the usual supply of scenic, comic, and educational films of the world’s loading makers. The proprietor has engaged the services of Professor Henderson, who by special j request, will play during the interval, giving novel variations of the mocking j bird. Professor Henderson is a-king i in picture music, having played in the largest cities of U.S.A., including New i York, Buffalo, San Francisco, Denver, i Pittsburg, etc., and has also a colonial! experience. Patrons can rely upon • good music and a well-screened pro- j gramme.
