The High Commissioner’s market report states:—The wool sales closed with brisk demand from all sections of the trade, including America, The prospects are favorable at Home, and the Conitnental trade good and likely to contimie. It is estimated that the American purchases were approximately 170,000 bales, against 5000 bales at last sales. Thirteen hundred bales of New Zealand wool were held over. The estimated values for superior merinos Is Id to Is 3d, medium lOd to Is, inferior Bid to lOd, fine crossbreds (all grades) Is Id to Is 34d, medium crossbreds (all grades) lOd to Is, coarse crossbreds (all grades) 9d to lid.
,Mr Newton King reports:—At my Haymarket sale on Saturday last there was only a moderate entry of pigs, whicfi met with fair competition, all lines being cleared, under the hammer. I quote:—Slips and weaners os 6d, 7s, 95,, to 14s, small stores 15s 6d, 17s 6d to 19s 6d, .medium stores £1 6s 6d to £1 13s, porkers £1 15s 6d up to £2 15s, hacks up to £4 ss, sundries in favor of buyers.
