THE WHITE WOLVES.

Yuan-Shih-Kai, President of the Chinese Republic, accuses Sun-Yat-Sen and Haungh-Sing of supplying the “white wolves” with arms and ammunition. He declares that t»*e rebels are endeavoring to establish bases at Shanghai and Hangkow to bring about a rebellion in conjunction with the “white wolves.”
H.M.S, NEW ZEALAND.
London, March 16
While the battleship New Zealand was lying in Berehaven Harbor, her topmast and wireless gear and gaffs were carried way by a gale. She dragged her anchors for two miles, but was never endangered.
ANARCHIST ARRESTED.
Paris, March 16
Advices from Uskub state that Alexander Pavldff, a Russian, has been arrested in possession of documents showing that lie was deputed by an anarchists’ conference at Copenhagen to kill the Czar.
TROUBLESOME DERVISHES.
Aden, March 16
Fifty Dervisli horsemen fired a volley into a native bazaar at Berbers, wounding several 1 natives. The police fruitlessly pursued-the Dervishes for ten miles. The" latter, while withdrawing, fired the smallpox hospital, and ignited villages, killing andwounding five friendlies.' A severe raid is reported from 20 miles eastward.
RELIGIOUS RIOTS.
Berlin, March 16,
During mass in a Dominican Church in the Moabit quarter, hundreds of Poles, insisting on the' instruction of theiv children in Polish, entered. At a given signal, 70 children rushed towards the altar, chanting and chattering in Polish. Pandemonium ensued, but the priests brought forward some 80 policemen who had been previously sumomn’ed, as they expected the intruders. Many womenH.were; violent, clinging to the pews and throwing themselves on the floor'till .they were forcibly dragged to the street.

The Xavy Estimates include £BO,982, the first instalment towards the construction of ships to carry sea planes. , 1 It is stated that the plane-carrier will act as a mother ship to silbmaries, and the aviators will scout from .them and report by wireless for the purpose of directing the operations of submarines.
IMPERIAL DEFENCE.

Advices from Toronto indicate that the' most ihflhhntiaL members of the Cabinet favor a understanding with Australia, New Zealand, and the Motherland regarding the defence of Imperial interests' in the Pacific, bn until Mr Borden is able to control both Houses he considers it inexpedient 'to join any Imperial Conference in that direction, as there is ho immediate likelihood of an agreement on a naval proposal being acceptable to Mr Borden’s and Sir "Wilfrid Laurier’s followers conjointly.
THE JAPANESE NAVY.

Following the recent close examination by. the Attorney-General regarding ship-building in England, Vice-Admiral Thurutaro Matsuo has been arrested in connection with th® naval scandal.
Party leaders and the Upper House are conferring with the Premier with a 1 view to a compromise on the naval vote reduction. *

- At a labor meeting, John Ware said the Labor Party - had not been consulted, and knew nothing of Tom Mann’s visit. Personally, he thought Mann would not be allowed to land.

WORLD'S MEAT SUPPLY.

The future of the world’s meat production is regarded with anxiety in Great Britain, owing to the United States becoming an importer. Threefifths of Britain’s requirements are produced at Home, and the remainder is imported from Australasia and South America. Stock breeder* anticipate prolonged high prices.
