Mr P. Wh'ite, Nationalist M.P. for Meath,' armed with a blackthorn, headed the procession. of Larkinites armed with staves. ' They, demanded from the Lord Mayor work for i the unemployed. White was ordered by the police to clear the road, and; a serious conflict ensued. The;'police dispersed the procession, their batons injuring several. Three had to be sent to hospital. White was injured' in the face and was arrested. He was bailed out on a charge of assaulting an uh spector, sergeant, two constables,-and a mail-van driver. The inspector states that he was struck on the'back of the head by a blunt instrument while arresting White. Meanwhile, the latter struck him with the blackthorn on the chest, and violently resisted arrest.""
