The, New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.;'Ltd., Stratford branch report as follows : Ou Wednesday, 4th inst., we held our annual sheep fair at Tahora, by the kind permission of Mr C. JYioG'utehan, in his yards, at which there was a fair attendance, also a fair entry of sheep. Practically everything was sold at the following rates:—lv.ves 5s 6d to OS 9d to 10s Bd, forward ewes t'rom 12s 9d to 13s 3d, 2 and 4 tooth wethers 15s for fair, to los 9d for well bulky sheep. A nice lot of iambs on account of a Tahora ojiont realised 9s 6d, 2-tooth Ilomney rams realised from Is, 2£, up to 3gns. Ou Thursday, oth inst., we held our .upplemeiitary sheep fair and cattle ale in our Kohuratahi yards, when we lad a fair entry of 2473 sheep and 270 head of- cattle. The majority of lie sheep were, sold and about half of .he cattle. For cattle the bidding .as slow except for weaners. Wearier .teers from 30s to 375, store cows •2s to 84s, 2$ year old steers 98s to 05s, 20 month steers from 50s for mall and backward to 80s for good iues. On Friday, 6th inst., we held our :sual monthly sale in our Te Wera •ards, when we had a fair entry of attle and, a small yarding of sheep, lost of the stock yarded being disposd of at the following prices:—Small -mpty heifers 51s, 18 month eifers r.w.b. 62s 6d to 655, small weaers from los to 20s, and up to 22s 'd for good lines of heifers, store eows ,'om 75s to 955, lambs realised from s, 8s lOd up to 10s, 4 and 5 year old wes from 7s 9d to 10s.

On Tuesday, 10th inst., we held our ;sual fortnightly sale and supplementry sheep fair in our Stratford yards, .'here was a fair yarding of 489 head f cattle and 1800 sheep, of which.we old .328 head of cattle and about 650 heep. Prices as lolluws:—Weaner teers in demand realised from 16s o 21s for inferior, from 22s to 23s for air, and from 33s to 37s for good ines, weaner heifers 14s to 20s 6d or small, 21s to 24s for medium,-and p to 30s Od for real good lines, store ows; fair demand, 56s to 70s for mall, 72s to 78s 6d for medium, and rom ,9.05. to' 97s < ; fr)rj .good stwffji • f«vvards cows realised 995, 106 s, 112 s Od, 17s to 150 s for butchers' lines, cows ind calves'from 70s for small, ~9os for uedium to 105 s for good lines, bulls n good demand from 112 s 6d, 119 s, 30s to 110 s, 18 months heifers, small •nd poor, 45s to 70s, 20 months steers '..'is to 09s 6d. Sheep were rather dull f sale except for small lines suitable or farmers' requirements, which met vith keen competition. On Tuesday', 10th inst., we also held var usual monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, bides, tallow, etc. We had a 'air catalogue, consisting of 177 packages of wool, and there was a large attendance of buyers, competition ■eing brisk, more especially for clean, iglit wools, which showed an advance n response to the recent rise in Lonlon values. Hides. —Cow hides, slipey and dry from 16s 3d to 21s Gd, fleshy 22s Gd'to 25s Gd, fair skins 295, yearling hides, dry, 4s Id, 6s 5d to 16s 3d! Calfskins.— Small and green Is Id, Is Gd, to 3s 9d. medium 2s 3d for fair to 4s lid to 5s 2d to 7s 2d for good lines. Horsebides Bs.

Since we last reported we have handled a lot of stock privately at the following rates: — l and 5 year old cull ewes from 5s to 7s fid, medium lines from 9s lOd to 10s, 4 year olds (fair linos) 14s, lambs,culls, from 6s to 7s fid, medium lines Ss to 8s fid, and up to 9s for fair lines, 2 tooth ewes 15s to 15s 3d for.'good breeding lines, rams from 2 to sp:ns, 20 month steers from 70s, 75s to 82s 6d for real good cattle, 2.1 year old steers 102 s 6d to 105 s, weaher steers 27s fid to 40s for real good stuff.
