; mer,s. werq present last night at New Plymouth. Chub's carnival, but only C. M. Kiyell competed. He was .unplaced in 'the 50yd,s race, but got second, place in both the 75yds and 100yds races. There was a good attendance of spectators a,nd the fields were excellent. -Hawera and New Plymouth teams tried conclusions at polOj the-visitors, winning by one goal to nil. At the swimming meeting tornight, in Te %ro Baths, Harold Hardwick, of Sydney, won the 100yds/ in 58 2-5 sec, or two seconds less than the New Zealand record. . Hardwick's time, however, is not. recognisable, as the starting-board not properly placed, hardwick also won the 220yds easily, in 2min 34 4-ssec.
