Vienna, March 11. Jacob, an Austrian lieutenant, has beten sentenced to seventeen years' rigorous imprisonment for espionage during mobilisation at the height oi the Balkan War. Six thousand Russian peasants threaten to march the streets unclad as a protest against the levying of penalties on communal property for individual offences. RIOTOUS UNEMPLOYED. New York, March 10. ' At Sacramento the unemployed art camped by thousands in tents. The police are unable to control the frequent riots. Abdul iHamid is not taking food and his condition is serious. LORD MURRAY'S M ARGON IS. London, March 10. Lord Lansdowne, in moving the ap pointment of the Marconi Committee, said Lord Loreburn had joined on condition that the charges against Lore! Murray were specifically formulateo' and the inquiry limited thereto. The methods of the committee would be judicial, and both sides of the House desired his appointment. The Marquis of Crewe said that Lord Loreburn agreed with him that the committee was unnecessary, Nevertheless, he desired that if the committee was to be constituted it should be as strong and as' judicial as possible. i BILLIARDS'. Stevenson has scored 4500 and Reece 3424, TRADE FOR THE YEAR* Mr Asquith (Premier) at the Associated Chamber of Commerce dinner, said the year 1913 was a record year. There were signs of diminution and some slackness in British Home and Overseas trade, but business wasconducted on broader and soundei lines than in any previous period, anc greater elasticity was shown.
