THE FIRE IN ST. LOUIS.

SOME DRAMATIC ESCAPES.

There were some dramatic escapes from the St. Louis lire. Twelve men tied their sheets together and descended from the fifth floor on to an adjoining roof. One man leaped a ten-feet chasm and escaped with bruises. Most of the escapees were in their night clothes onlv.

The manager of the Athletic Club refused to leave until he had given the alarm to everyone. Several firemen were injured by falling walls.

SHOCKING EXPERIENCES.

New York, March 10

Search lights revealed eleven bodies in the ruins of the Athletic Chib. The death roll is now stated to he thirtyone. Many hysterical persons escaped, and are wandering around the city,, their relatives searching for them, some being half demented, having had a shocking experience.
