AUCKLAND ROAD SCHOOL.

I THE ANNUAL PICNIC. There were about two hundred present at the annual picnic of the Ackland Road School, held on Thursday last. Mr Trimble, chairman of the Taranaki Education Board, and Messrs lingers and Masters, .members, were present. The chairman of the School Committee, in introducing Mr Trimble, said the district was lucky in having such a man as Mr Trimble as chairman of the Education Board. He extended thanks to those who had helped to make the picnic a success and to those who Had attended.

In the course of a short speech Mr Trimble advised the school committee to impress on the Minister for Education the necessity for increasing the grants made to small schools. Mr S. Pitt had presented a sheep for a guessing competition, an dthe correct weight (1051 b) was guessed by Mr Jago. i Mr J. McAllister was present and took a photograph of those present. Presented by Mrs Savage: Garden prizes : Ist girls, Gertie Lumsden ; 2nd girl, Isabell Knox; Ist boy, Leslie Oldridge; 2nd boy, Walter Tocker. Presented by Miss E.
