SYLVIA PANKHURST ARRESTED.

(Received 1 p.m.) Loudon, March 8. • While proceeding to a demonstration at Trafalgar Square, Miss Sylvia Pankhurst was arrested for the sixth time under the Cat and Mouse Act. The demonstration, including her East End bodyguard, was exasperated and v attempted to inarch to Downing Street but the police frustrated them, and nine were arrested. < The Home Secretary informed Mrs Pankhurst that her petition would be presented to the King, but he was unable to advise his Majesty to receive a deputation. , She thereupon wrote to the King, declaring that the Ministers were not elected by women and were not responsible-to the latter, and they wore entitled to interpose, adding that in pursuance of that right she would personally present the petition. The other representatives of the Women’s Social and Political League will proceed to Buckingham Palace at a date hereafter to bo fixed, and will claim an audience. It is understood this will be after Easter in the height of the London season.
