TOKO NOTES.
TENNIS

A tennis match between lo Wera and Toko took place on Friday, 27 th ult at the Toko tennis court, before a large number of spectators. Ihe weather was favourable. The scores are as follows.
Ladies Doubles:—Misses Hine(Toko) beat Misses Finucrty and Wilson (To Wera) 6—2. Mrs Butler and Miss Cumbenvorth (Toko) boat Misses Franks and Ford (To W orn) G—3. Men’s Doubles: —Messrs Stewart and Barrett (To Wera) beat Messrs G. .It, Bocock and J. Lucena (Toko) 6—). Messrs V. Faldor and E. T. King 'Toko) beat Messrs C. Stewart and J. Batt (To Wera) 6-4.
Combined Doubles.—Miss Hine. and Mr Falder (Toko) beat Miss Finnerty and Mr C. Stewart (To Wera) 6—A. Miss Franks and Mr Stewart (To Wera) boat Miss D. Hine and Mr King (Toko) 6—4. Miss W ilson and Mr Batt (To Wera) beat Miss Cumbenvorth and Mr Bocock (Toko) o—3. Miss Ford and Mr Barrett (To Worn) beat Mrs Butler and Mr Lucena (Toko) 6—3.
Singles.—Miss Hine (Toko) bent Miss Fiunorty (To Wera) 6—l. Mr Martis (To Worn) beat Mr G. Were (Toko) 6—l,
Afternoon tea was provided by the local ladies, and also tea before the visitors departed by the 7.30 train for To Wora. Mr C. Stewart, on behalf of the visiting team, thanked Toko for their hospitality, and called for three cheers. Mr G. E. Bocock returned thanks and called for cheers for Te Wora. SEASIDE PICNIC.
On Tuesday morning last some ISO Tokoites journeyed to New Plymouth co spend the day at the East End beach. The weather was not very promising, and before Tariki was reached rain set in which continued for the rest of the journey. On arriv:ng at East End, hot water was ready, and no time was lost in having lunch. By one o’clock the rain had ceased, ■ho sun came out from behind the clouds, and soon the picnickers were on pleasure bent. Bathers, young and aid, wore noticed enjoying the briny ocean, while the little ones were indulging in donkey rides, sea-saws, swing*, etc. A very enjoyable day was spent. The School Committee are very thankful to the Toko business oeople and others who so generously donated cases of fruit, biscuits, and lollies for the children. The flue up-to-date pavilion which has been erected at the beach lately has made a great improvement, and it is now an ideal place for pleasure seekers. TARiKJ v. TOKO.
A tennis match between Tariki and Toko was held on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a win for Toko. There was a good attendance of onlookers. The match was very interesting. The scores are as follows:
Ladies Singles—Miss Hine (Toko), boat Miss Therkleson (Tariki), 6 —3; Miss Cumberworth (Toko), boat Mrs Jones (Tariki), 6 —o. Men’s Singles.—Mr C. Young (Tariki), beat Mr J. Lncena (Toko) G—l; Mr Mcllroy (Tariki) boat Mr G. E. Bocock (Toko) C—4 ; Mr V. Falder ( Toko) beat Mr T. Therkleson (Tariki) (34 ■ Mr J. Therkleson (Tariki) heat Mr E. Hino (Toko) 6—3. Ladies’ Doubles.—Miss Hine and Miss Cumberworth (Toko) boat Miss Therkleson and Mrs Jones (Tariki) 6—l.
Men’s Doubles.—Messrs C. Young nid T. Therkleson (Tariki) beat Mr E. fline and Mr J. Lucena <Ioko) 6—3, Messrs V. Falder and E. King (Toko) beat Messrs T. Therkleson and W. Rudkin (Tariki) 6 —5. Combined Doubles.—Mr C. Y T onng and Miss Therkleson (Tariki) beat Mr J. Lucena and Miss D. Hino (Toko) B—4.
The usual afternoon tea was provid'd by the Toko ladies. Mr Were thanked the Tariki team, saying he hoped Toko would soon ho able to return the match, and called for three cheers for Tariki and three for the ladies. Personal. Mr J. Davis, of Gordon Road, left last week on a holiday trip to Tasmania. Mr Murray Urquhart and Miss Urquiiart are being visited by their pro cuts from Australia
