The Department of Agriculture has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, March 3rd, regarding the opening of the second series of Colonial wool sa l es : __"The wool sales commenced with a large attendance of buyers, and competition is great. Americans are buying freely and the market is very strong. Merinos average hd and crossbred Id above the closing rates at last j sales; 60,200 bales of New Zealand wool were catalogued." LONDON WOOL SALES. [Bt Electric Telegraph—Copyright] lUnited Press Association^ (Received 11.5 a.m.) London, March 3. The wool sales have opened. Competition was brisk and excited. Merinos advanced 5 to 7i per cent and crossbreds fully 10 per cent.
