FIRES.
TAILORING WORKSHOP CUTTED.

Messrs J. and J. Arthur's tailoring workshop was completely gutted by ire at 3.15 this morning. The cause of the fire is unknown. Forty hands ire thrown idle. It was insured in the Royal Exchange for £I2OO and the ■Approximate damage is £IOOO. The brigade effected a splendid save.
SHOP AND DWELLING GUTTED.
Timaru, March 1.-
Early this morning, A. C. Kedylic, a shopkeeper on the outskirts of the town, being unwell, went to bis shop for some medicine. He fainted, and dropped a lamp which set fire to the floor. H<> recovered in time.to escape tnd call the neighbors, who, as they thought, put the fire out. Presently however, the fire broke out agdin, and the shop and dwelling was gutted.
