Mr H. Samuel, on behalf of the Government, has adopted Mr Verney's Bill fixing all the polls at the general election, except the Universities, for the same day.
THREE-CORNERED CONTESTS
(Received 9.20 a.m.) London, March 1
The Daily News warns the Parliamentary Labour Party that unless three-cornered contests in the byelections are avoided, the Irish vote at the general election will be cast against Labour.
Mr Arthur Henderson said that while he regretted three-cornered contests, the local Lahorites only asserted the rights of Labour parties. The executive could not dictate to them in any way whatever as to whom they would have for their own candidate or not, or whom they should vote for.
