Mr Holman stated yesterday that certain steps had been taken, but there was nothing definite to communicate. The Government have not slackened their efforts to effect ' a settlement. Things are not at a standstill. The men have to consult the committee, and it was impossible to say anything for publication. There was an impression prevailing that the men realised that the real sufferers are the people who have no concern in the dispute. The employers’ committee still demands unconditional resumption, nothing short of which will be accepted as a basis of settlement. AGITATION AGAINST NONUNIONISTS. ' Sydney, February 27. The Broken Hill Barrier Labor Federation lias started another agitation against non-unionists in all grades of business and mines. Semple, speaking at bis first public meeting, delivered an impassioned speech against capitalists and advocated extreme action against nonunionists. THE SEAMEN’S OVERTIME „ QUESTION. (Received 10.25 a.m.) Melbourne, February 28. Mr Hughes’ application to the Arbitration Court for an adjournment of the employees’ case against the Commonwealth Steamship Owners' Federation, pending the results of the Federal ballot, has been granted/ Mr Justice Higgins remarking: J will not arbitrate for a striking union, and it is a strike when men refuse to work overtime in this industry.

MUSICIANS SATISFIED. The musicians and the theatrical managers have arrived at a settlement under an award of the Court which was obtained.
