WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
COUNCIL'S MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly mooting of Hie Wliangainomona County Council, held on Tuesday, there were piesent: Crs. A. Meredith (chairman), \Y. A. McCutchan, W. Bacon, K. B. Boberton, X. K, Cleland, T. JR. Mounsey, A. Coyne and J. MeCluggage. Crs. Koberton and Cleland reported that Mr Holder's horse, injured on the \ Mangaoata tram, would soon be well \ again. It was decided to have necessary I I work done on a bridge on Whitiauga . Boad. i The. clerk was instructed to ascertain i the whereabouts of the .Minister lor j Public Works, the .Minister for Bail- ! ways, and the member for the di-- \ trict. to enable a deputation to interview them on Thursday or Friday regarding the shortage of trucks. The renewal of the second bridbe in ■ the township was held over until the completion of the Central Hiding bridge rate proceedings. Messrs Court, Fawkner, Klee and j Bradley waited on tiie Council and applied to have the Ohura Boad in the ! township metalled to its full width.— ; Cr. MeCluggage gave notice of motion , tor next meeting: That assistance to settlors towards metalling main road ! for its full width in township be given ! nit of special fund account.—lt was decided that the deputation should i apply for a township loan of £4OO, and :hat if this is granted the chairman and Engineer be authorised to proceed i with the work.—When metalling can ie proceeded with on the main road it s to have preference over the towndiip metalling. Mr E. W. Wilson, on behalf of the .'utikituna settlers, is to be advised .hat the work of opening up the road ,vould cost some £l7O, exclusive of ; ost of renewing two bridges, that the j Council's available funds for the road i ire only some £2OO and that, therefore, the Council deems it advisable :o wait until a reply to the application or assistance is received from the Government, of which the Council would ! i dee early advice. Coleman and Borrow's tender was acepted for contract Xo. 55. L. C. Brown is to be informed that is Tirohanga .Road is not under County ■ontrol the Council cannot sanction any xpenditure thereon. A further request is to be sent to .lr Coulter to clear the impediments 'i : the natural drainage of Cornish's and. Failing compliance the Council .vill do the work at his expense. All sections on the Whanganiomona- • ahimaroa were included in the £2500 Jhura Boad loan. The clerk is to send o the settlers .included a verbatim \ opy of the clauses empowenig their nclusion. The Engineer was requested to en- " !eavour to arrange with the District j •higineer to, obtain a grant of £7oo'!' )r the Kohi Boad, if th o latter's proosals can be suitably modified. The Engineer was authorised to re■air the Makahu bridge and make it safe for traffic. He will also improve he approaches to the Brewer' Boad ttnnel when labor is available. The Engineer was instructed to chain timber for the Putikituna Boad >ridgO and! to caW tenders for same. Arrears of rates'for tlie year 1908- ■. 1909-10, 1010-11, as submitted to the ouncil, were written off. Accounts amounting to £lls] 2s lOd sre passed for payment.
