A Woman Spy.
CHARBNC CROSS I MCI DENT. TWO ARRESTS MADE. ! [By Electric Teleguaph—Copyright J [United Press Association.] London, February 23. Prior to the departure of the Continental express from Charing Cross, a detective arrested a woman for espionage. A number of documents j were seized. ! A man living at Wandsworth was afterwards arrested. RESULT OF POLICE SEARCH. THE PAIR REM AMD 2D. j* —, (Deceived 9.25 a.m.) London, February 23. ( Gould’s house at Southfields was 1 searched and several incriminating 1 documents relating to the navy were | found. I The woman stated that she tore up | the address where she was going to | at Brussels. i The police found fragments revealling the name Petersen, i Gould stated that the woman was I taking a message from him but did I not know the contents. Gould is a cigar merchant, and a British subject. Both were remanded. ACCUSED MAN AND WIFE. BRITISH NAVAL AFFAIRS. (Received 9.55 a.m.) London, February 23. Frederick Gould and his wife were remanded. The espionage documents referred to the British Navy. The woman denied having any knowledge of the contents, but admitted it was her intention to take them to Brussels.
