Earl Grey, replying to Mr Gilbert Parker, said the Government bad been informed that the condominium in the New Hebrides was not working very satisfactorily in regard to criminal judgments. The* Government was in negotiation with Franco with a view to revising the arrangement. (Received 1.5 p.m.) Melbourne, February 21. The Rev. Patton, foreign mission secretary of the Presbyterian Church, has received the following cable from London: “Well informed sources indicate the possibility of the condominion being ended by the cession of the New Hebrides to France as part of a larger settlement with that country. Australian action imperative.” Mr Patton, in an interview, said the cable came from an unimpeachable source. It was a call for fresh effort. He said; “We are taking every stop possible to place the gravity ol the position before the authorities.
