Mr F. H. Anderson ,of the local firm of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received notice of transfer to the Company’s Christchurch Branch, where he wiil take up duties in the beginning of March. A a mooting of Directors of the United Press Association, held after the annual meeting of shareholders at New Plymouth, Mr G. Fenwick (Otago Daily Times) was elected chairman for the ensuing year and Mr P. Sclig (Christchurch Press) vice-chairman. Mr Fenwick will attend a very important Press Conference which is ox.pected to take place next August in Canada. The Governor and Lady Liverpool paid their first official visit to Oamaru yesterday, and were enthusiastically received by the residents. On their arrival the party motored to the beautiful Oamaru gardens, where his Excellency was welcomed by the ActingMayor, Mr R. Milligan, in the absence of the Mayor (Mr W. H. Firth) from illness, and was presented with an address and entertained at a civic lunch, after which he visited the Waitaki Boys’ High School, where his Excellency presented the Meath Cup to Cyril King, the first New Zealand scholar to win it. The party left for the North the same afternoon.
