Sinton (Auckland) 3. Time. 12min 27 4-ssec 100yds Relay Race—Wellington 1, Opawa 2. Syenham won, but wore disqualified for fouling. Polo Championship, second round— Wellington 3 beat Canterbury B. BOWLING. \ THE AUSTRALIANS. Christchurch, February 19Tho Australian bowlers arrived in Christchurch this morning, after a soa journey from Dunedin, and mot lour rinks selected to represent Christchurch Centre at the Canterbury Bowling Club's green. Sir F. A. Redpath (president of the' Canterbury Club) welcomod the visitor* to the ground. The Australians responded with one of their appropriate little part-songs. The match resulted: — Australia. 94; Christchurch Cant™, 97. STRATFORD CLUB. Yesterday's progressive doublos, played according to the system invented by Mr Barnett. of Christchurch. proved very successful,. Every player thoroughly enjoyed the game. King, with no losses, won the Skip's Prize, with Masters and McMillan runners-up, one loss each. Sharp and Skoglund Junior had out 1 loss each for the Lead's Trophy, which was .then, according to the rules on the aggregate number of points scored in the first two games, Sharp winning. In the Lead's game it is necessary that players see.the sot through, and one skip, who left, before the last game without any explanation to Kis" lead, or, making provision for'a substitute. came in for some rather caustic remarks! from the irest of the players.' i s ' MOTOR CYCLING. ! i i,,1.i A SPEED TRIAL. The Stratford Motoring Club Held a speed-judging contest yesterday over a distance of twenty miles./Phe course -was from Stratford, to Douglas and back.' to-To'co. Masters and A. B. Fearon had charge of tho arrangements. There- were seventeen entrants, and the winner turned .up in A. Sangster on a "King Dick." who was set to travel at 2-5 auiles per hour, and who finished within three minutes of the allotted time. Mr R. Okey, on a B.S.A. (L'O miles") was second ; D. Kinlay,. "Triumph" (15 miles), third; and H. Masters. B.S.A. (15 miles), fourth.
