BANDSMEN DISSATISFIED. Auckland, February 15. Several bands competing in tbe competitions expressed dissatisfaction with the result of the judging of the test selections and the quickstep. At the conclusion, of the latter the massed bands were to have played the march "Imperator." The bands assembled at the far end of the cricket ground, and as they approached the judge (Captain Bentley) some of the bands were playing.a.discordant tune. Captain Bentley motioned them to play "Imperator," but the discord continued. One of the contest committee appealed to the bands to "play the game," and not be discourteous to the judge/ after which the march was played according to the programme. Bandsmen complain that some of the bands considered to be the best in New Zealand have been given comparative low marks.
