EAST COAST RODBEP.IES. [Per Press Association.] Hastings, February 14. It is reported that G. F. Roach’s grocery store was burgled last night and £BOO in cash and jewellery taken from the safe. The police decline to confirm the report or give reporters information.

Torrential rain fell during the early hours of the morning, 2.60 inches being registered; and it is supposed that the thieves took advantage of the noise occasioned by the downpour and the deserted streets to carry out their work. In one of the houses yesterday a brother of the occupier was looking round to sec that all was right and was startled by a man springing out of a cupboard and making good his escape. The thief in the other house spent a comfortable night in the bed of the man ho was robbing.
