[Pee Press Asbouiaxion.J The attend since yesterday was large and speculation brisk, the totalisators handling the sum of £15,078 IDs during the day. as against £1,840 last >ear, la 11 increase of £2BBB 10s. Stipendiary Steward McMahon was in attendance, and held an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Katua’s fall in the hurdle race. After taking evidence, the mishap was judged to nave l«en purely accidental. The jockey, 0. Me. Carten, was fined £5 for taking his mount (Patronymic) across to the rails in the Okato Handicap, the second horse not being more than two clear lengths behind. The field moved off in almost perfect order, Con the Shaughraun being the only one to lose ground. Peroneal and Patronale set a warm pace, followed by Emperador and a bunched lot. Goldsize moved np into third place as they ran past the stand. The order was then Patronale, Peroneal, Goldsize, Emperador, Allegation, and Stepney, Tiresome being last. At the sixfurlong post Patronale and Peroneal opened up a big break on Goldsize and Emperador. Byron ran into fifth place hve furlongs from home. At the High School bond the leaders commenced to come back, and Goldsize headed them before turning for home. Emperador and Byron came through strongly, but they had no chance of catching the lightweight (Goldsize), who won comfortably by rather more, than a length. Emperador just beat Byron by a short neck, and the order then was Tiresome, Allegation, Cheddar, with Con the iShaughraun and Patronale last. Time, 2rnin 7 2-ssec.
