A grocery store and dWllin* oppofcit* the tram barn at Epsom uas totally destroyed by tire early tiiis morn:ng. The premises were owned and occupied by Mr A. Mills. WhD 1 the lire broke out all the occupants of the house, Mrs Mills and her five children and a girl, were asleep. Mrs Mills found the house on fire, the ilames coming from the direction of the kitchen. She promptly awakened the other inmates, and all got safely out of the house. The tramway night shift of twenty men turned water on the flames. Ihe Newmarket fire brigade arrived later, but could only save adjoining buildings. Nothing was saved from Mrs Mills' or the grocery Store. The house was insured for £420, the furniture for £2OO, and the stoclc for £2-30, all in the Phoenix office.
