TOKO SHOW.
The Secretary reports entries coming in fairly well for the Settlers' Association's first annual Show to he held at Toko on the 19th, and the usual rush of entries at the last moment is expected. Several entries, by the way, close on the 12th. Owing to an oversight, Mr -las. Bain's £2 2s special for milk cart horse was omitted from the schedule, and Mr Bain now wishes £l. Is to be added to the first prize in this class and £1 Is to go to the general fund. Mr R. Mason has come forward with a donation of £3 3s to be awarded as prizes for best pony, gear and rider, for school girls only attending the district schools, viz., Toko, Toko Road, Douglas, and Huiroa. Two challenge cups have come to hand, and are being exhibited in Mi' Bain's store. One (Mr J. B. Hine's) is for the best dairy herd, and the other (Mr C. Bayly's) is for the best 3 acres of swede turnips. Both cups are very handsome Mi' W. H. Were has also donated £5 towards the Dog Trials. The district is very fortunate in having such good "sports" in its midst. In fact, the Association is in luck's way in this respect, other settlers having given most liberally.
