The Admiralty has lent Sir Ernest Shackleton the services of Lieutenant Harboard to command the Discovery. Captain Cantrell will act as surveyor, and Lord Congleton also assists in the survey work. Lord Samphill's son is to be entrusted with meteorology and the electrical plant. Lieutenant Garstin (Royal Indian Marines) will be first officer, and Lieutenant Beatty (of the same service) will act as navigating officer, while Green, formerly of the Discovery and Terra Nova, is to be boatswain.
