DEMONSTRATION AT WAITARA. Over a hundred teams competed at the demonstration held at Waitara on Thursday under the auspices of the faranaki United Fire Brigades' Association, in the evening the competitors were entertained at ;i smoke concert, at which the prizes were distn buted.

The Tug-of-war was scratched owing to the late hour. Points Prize.— A solid silver sovereign case, value L'l Is, ,o;ivcii by It. Pppperoll, awarded lo the competitor scoring the largosj number of points during the day, was won by Fireman A run (Fitzroy). Points.- Fitzroy 4S, Hawera <I3, Xew Plymouth 38, Kltham 3-1, Waitara 32, Stratford PJ, Paten 9, rnglewood ! I. Kaponga 2. The Challenge Shield therefore went to Fitzroy, and there was unanimous opinion among the competitors that lhey deserved it, and upon the shield being presented to the captain of this brigade, bo was received with great applause.
