In response to the Women's Soeinl and Political League, alleging that forcible-feeding tortures were carried out at Holloway Gaol, the Bishop of London paid a surprise visit to Rachel Peace. He says that he found her lying comfortably in bed, fully dressed, in n large, well-warmed cell, there being no signs of emaciation or distress, except that she was somewhat pale. She said nothing about forcible feeding, and she denied screaming, an other suffragette priseners affirmed was the case*
