The Takapuua Jockey Club’s summer meeting opened to-day in glorious weather. The totalisator handled £117,7-15, as against £24,59.3 last year. Results:—

Maiden Plate; one mile.—Tripoli ,8.4 (carried 7.13) (Robinson), I; Pupil r a 7.9 (carried 7.4), '2; Centenary 7.6 (carried 7.1), 3. Won all the way, one and a half lengths between second and third. Time, Imin 44 3-ssec.

Zealandia Handicap; seven furlongs.—Tattoo 8.12 (H. Gray), 1 ; Goldsize 8.5, 2; Tinopai 7.3, 3. A desperate finish, won by a head, third horse three lengths, away. Time, Imin 28 l-ssec.

Hauraki Hurdles; one mile and a half and one hundred yards.—s Vestal 9.3 (Percival), 1; 3 Spalperion 9.0, 2; 1 Rutfy 9.4, 3. Won easily by a length and a half, the third horse three lengths away. Holdfast made the running to the straight entrance, accompanied by Kakama. The field was very bunched. Tire-, some put in a claim at the entrance to the straight, and won easily by half a length, the third horse a head away. Time, 2min 29 3 : ssec. ' Ferry Handicap; five and a half furlongs.—6 Munster, 7.8 (McMillou; 1; 5 The Celt, 8.11, 2; 2 Hinerewa, 9.0, 3. Won easily by two lengths, with one length, between second and third. Time, Imin Usee.

Calliope Handicap, 2-yfear-olds, five and a half furlongs.—2 Chime 8.13 (Deeley), and Delenda 7.5 (O’Shea), dead heat for first place; 5 Lady Penury, 6.10, 3. A desperate finish, the judge being unable to separate the lirst two. An inquiry was held into bumping, and O’Shea and Deeley were cautioned. Time, Imin 11 1-5

Orewa Hurdles; one and threequarter miles.—l North East 12.6 (McCabe), 1; 3 Surplus 9.9, 2; 4 Ko tiripo 9.5, 8. on easily by lour lengths. Time, 3min 19sec. Stewards’ Handicap, five and ahalf furlongs.—B Tripoli 7.0 (O’Shea). 1; King Lupin 9.2, 2; 6 Glad Tidings 8.3, 3. Won all the way by a length, and two lengths between •second and third.
