The Takapuua Jockey Club’s summer meeting opened to-day in glorious weather. The totalisator handled £117,7-15, as against £24,59.3 last year. Results:—

Maiden Plate; one mile.—Tripoli ,8.4 (carried 7.13) (Robinson), I; Pupil r a 7.9 (carried 7.4), '2; Centenary 7.6 (carried 7.1), 3. Won all the way, one and a half lengths between second and third. Time, Imin 44 3-ssec.

A desperate finish, the judge being unable to separate the lirst two. An inquiry was held into bumping, and O’Shea and Deeley were cautioned. Time, Imin 11 1-5
