THE MURDER OF REEKS.
THE RESULT OF POLICE INQUIRY

It is reported that the police are sending an officer in a fast boat to overtake the steamer Grampian at St. John’s. They had a wireless communication from the steamer. It is supposed that a passenger aboard the Grampian gave the name of George Rogers, of Market Street, Huntingdon. It has been discovered that both the name and address are false.
After visiting his solicitor on Monday, Reeks returned to his hotel. Learning that Ramsden had gone to Leeds, he made a parcel of his pyjamas and brush. He did not return to the hotel. police trace-:! Ramsden to Leeds, but lie can throw no light on the tragedy. He stated that Reeks was a casual acquaintance whom ho met at a Liverpool hotel cr. Saturday. They parted on Monday. The police are satisfied with Itamsden’s story.
A SATISFACTORY EXPLANATION.

Fracis, the suspect in the Reeks case, was traced by the police, who are satisfied lie was not connected with the crime. He was Reeks’ companion at Liverpool, and has given a satisfactory explanation of his movements. He says he travelled to England in a different steamer, and that they met accidentally at a hotel.'
REEKS’S RELATION
(Received 10.40 a.m.) London, January 27
Mrs Cartwright* relative of Reeks, residing at Swindon, Staffordshire, states that seeing the portrait in the paper was her first intimation of Reeks’ death, which occurred within four miles of her house. She did not know if he intended to visit her.
THE MOTOR INCIDENT.

The police at Wolverhampton are satisfied that the motor incident at the Swan Publichouse is not connected with the tragedy.
