THE "BELLE OF THE BALL"
FATHERLAND DISAPPOINTMENT.
[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Limes—Sydney Sun Special Cables.
Berlin, January 25
The reduction of the powers of General von Sanders, head of the military mission in Turkey, has caused bitter disappointment and resentment in Germany.
The Vossische Zeitung describes it as a tragic comedy, and asserts that the entente, addressing Germany, proceeded from conversation to advice, from advice to requests, and from requests to threats.
The Conservative organ, the Berlin Post, sees dark Russian shadows closing upon Germany from every quarter, the Fatherland having been warned oh Asia Minor and cold-shouldered all along the line. Germany is described as a wall-flower on an occasion she has the historic right to be the belle of the ball.
