HOSPITAL SATURDAY.
A RECORD COLLECTION. The weather on Saturday was propitious for the Hospital Saturday collection, and there were a good number of country residents in town. Not many young ladies were available, but operations were commenced in the morning by three young ladies. Altogether seven young ladies carried boxes, including two of the hospital nurses, though all did not operate during the whole of the dav.
The total collection was in the vicinity of £SO, which is the largest amount yet collected in the streets. In previous years the country districts were canvassed, but this year this was not done. A collection was taken at the matinee at His Majesty's Theatre, adding i'.'s I9s 6d to the total.
