A DANGEROUS SPORT. J I Pv!K PItEHX ASboOl I Palmerston North, January 23. At the inquest on Harold'Plimmer, who was killed while riding in a motor jyele race, eye-witnesses testified that Plimmer was oiling up at the time, md struck one post, which caused him :u crash full force into a second post. He was thrown 11 feet from where he mmo in contact with the first post. Medical evidence showed that death was due to coming in contact with the ground. Plimmer’s neck was broken and the base of the skull fractured. A verdict was returned that death was accidental,* no blame attaching to anyone. The coroner recommended that when dangerous sports were being held a doctor should bo in attendance, although it would have been of ao service in the present instance.
DEATH UNDER AN QPERATION.
Wellington, January 23
An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Eunice King, a young married woman, who collapsed and expired under an anaesthetic at the hospital on Wednesday, while being prepared for an operation. In a second operation, the usual anaesthetic was employed, and every means adopted to resuscitate the patient when her condition became critical, but without success. The coroner
returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony.
