Miles, the printer of the Strike Herald, was fined £25 or a month; three others were fined £2O or three weeks , and a fifth was acquitted. REQUEST FOR RELEASE. I Pretoria, January 22. 1 A deputation of railwaymen asked General Botha to release the arrested strikers. He replied that he could tonly deal with the arrested men under martial law, but later he informed the Government of the request, and they are considering each case on its merits.
