A MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED. [Per Press Association.l , Palmerston Xortli, January 22. A motor-cyclist named H. Plimmer. ot Wellington, a married man, was killed whilst riding in a live-mile motor cycle race at the sports meeting on the Awapuni racecourse. He swerved oil and struck the fence. CRIME IN AUCKLAND. Auckland, January 22. At the Police Court, Francis Murphy, aged oli, pleaded guilty to stealing £4 on Friday last, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Prisoner had snatched a handbag from Mrs Kee'ule containing £! and an Exhibition ticket. The man ran off, but the lady’s cries attracted the attention of a milkman, who collared the culprit with the bag in his pocket.
NURSES’ CLUB ENTERED.... Auckland, January 22. A call for help was received at the Central Police Station at 1.15 a.ra. today, from the Nurses’ Residential Club in Upper Queen Street, and on the arrival of two constables they found an undersized youth, 18 years of age, sitting in deshabille in one of the upstairs rooms, and held a prisoner by a ring of nurses armed with walkingsticks. The youth’s name is Silva, and he was remanded till next Wednesday for medical observation. CHARGES OF BURGLARY. Auckland, January 22. Arthur Douglas, 57 years of age. was further remanded to-day on 15 charges of burglary hi Auckland and two in Whangarei, all, committed in the'open daylight between January 5 ..and January 14. The value of the goods stolen amounts to about 1.200.
