THE FINANCIAL MARKET.

The Westminster Gazette fears that the Victorian success will stimulate so many borrowers that congestion will again result. The Globe states that the accumulation of wealth arising from the trade boom, now coming on the market, finds the Stock Exchange largely demuled of its floating supplies of stocks. Brokers' books are full of investment order's. The position of the Stock Exchange is healthier than for many years.
THE VICTORIAN LOAN.

It is officially reported that the total applications for the Victorian loan were £1,516,700.
LONDON WOOL SALES.
(Received 11 a.m.) London, January 21
At the wool sales the market is firm and there is strong competition for all sorts.
Mr Newton King has received the following advice re London wool sales:
—"Market strong with a hardening tendency, greasy good, par to 5 per cent advance."
