STRATFORD HOSPITAL.
NEXT SATURDAY'S EFFORT
THE CHAIRMAN'S APPEAL.
[To Tiiv Editor Stratkoud I'ost. |
Sir,—l should like with your permission to call attention to the collection which will be made on Saturday next on behalf of the local Hospital, and while doing so 1 would briefly refer to the statements made at the last meeting of the Board by myself, and which you were good enough to com-
ment on'in a leader. That statement was intended to show, and I am sure proved, that our Hospital is well man-
aged, but if we wish to maintain our thigh standard it will be necessary for the public to support the Board in its efforts. The present Hospital Board inherited a heavy liability on capital account, and that liability is being steadily reduced. Certain additions are needed now at the Hospital, and to enable those improvements to be carried out without adding to the present debt, the Board confidently appeal W the public of both town and country !to respond liberally. Every pound (given on Saturday carries a OovernIment subsidy of twenty-four shillings; .that of course means that every £i on Saturday brings to the [Board £2 Is. The local Hospital has proved a good institution from tho humanitarian standpoint, and also from the ratepayers' point of view, 'and no worthier object can be named for public support. Thanking you for inserting this appeal.— \ am, eu*.,
j. McAllister, Chairman .Stratford Hospital Boaid
