THE FOXTON MEETING.
| (By Cicero.) \
The annual meeting of the Foxton Club, which opens to-morrow, should provide a capital day's sport. Stratford will have representative in Simple Sam, Royal Dragoon, and Hector Girl, and with ordinary luck should j capture a race or two. Eight are engaged in the Hack j "Hurdes. which look "good" for Comi posed, who was just defeated by that | good horse, Marble Head, at Hast- ) ings oil New Year's Hay. The good held of sixteen figure as acceptors for the Electric Handicap. Maniaroa, who showed winning form at New Plymouth, will he a runner, and is very well. An even lot of fourteen have accepted for the Cup, Ooromandel, Manga roa, and Royal Dragoon should provide a good contest. Of the twenty-seven appearing on the card in the Trial Stakes, Vladineau, who ran really well at Marton, will probably start favorite. Hiwitapu and Guiding Way are a c&uple of good "hacks" engaged in the Awahou Welter, and will probably receive most support. Ten accepted for the Flying Handicap. Lord Possible and Leapuki showed "form" recently, and will no doubt be well backed. Epworth, who won a "double" at Marton, is engaged in the Dash Handicap, and as he is a very smart beginner will receive strong support. ' Clenfern and Matlow are engaged in the Herringtcfn Welter, and both are very well. The names' of Tetikura and Patronata appear in the list of acceptances. This is incorrect, as the Ha-wera-owned pair were not paid up for, and' therefore were not sent to the meeting. The richly-endowed Wellington Stakes will be decided at Trentham tomorrow (Thursday). Recontre will bo a starter, and it will take an exceptionally good one to beat the Obligado filly. i
