HOUSE DESTROYED.

Feilding, January 19

A six-roomed house on the Awahuri Road, near Feilding, was destroyed on I Saturday night. The cause was a defective chimney. D. Cooper, the owner, was away, and the insurances are not known. Hayes, the occupier, had his furniture insured for £IOO in the Northern office.

Auckland, January 19

A six-roomed house with furniture and effects, owned and occupied by A. C. Pillinger, and also an empty shop at Mount Eden, were destroyed by fire at midnight. The occupants escaped in their night clothes. The furniture was not insured. It is understood that there was an insurance of £l5O on the house and shop.
