TARANAKJ CHAMPIONSHIPS. The third days play iu the Taranaki lawn tenuis championship tournament took place, at Hawera yesterday. "he weather was fine and the big crowd of spectators present witnessed some fine play. Following are details of the day's games:—
MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES

Semi-final: S. Powdrell scratched to Jennings in the semi'-final. leaving leanings and Ollivier in the final.

A representative tennis match,South Canterbury v. North Otaeo, was played at Tiraaru yesterday, and resulted in a win for the former by the narrow margin of six games. i ——
