AUCKLAND WILL SECEDE.

' Auckland, January 16. The annual conference of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union considered a communication from the Auckland Union announcing its intention to secede. It was explained that one reason was that subscriptions to the Union kept 'the local centre financially impoverished. It was asserted that the' greedy, grasping nature of the Union exacted every penny, but put the money to no useful purpose; Auckland hoped to form a North Island Union with headquarters central and easy of access. Southern delegates intimated that their unions would, remain loyal and the Auckland scheme would be frustrated. v -No definite action was takeu. Officers wvrc elected as follows:
