There are only two vacancies. Mr Sims, of the New Zealand team, offered them to Park (Melbourne University) and Crawford (South Australia). * .The team, which includes Armstrong, Kansford, Laver, McKenzie, Noble, Trumper, Waddy, Collins, and Dolling, departs on January 28th. OPEN DEFIANCE OF BOARD OF CONTROL. (Received 11.55 a.m.) Sydney, January 16. The Herald says: 'Tt is understood that the teams organised for • New Zealand and' America will make their tours whether sanctioned by the Board of Control or not. The Chairman of the Board says: No player will be given sanction to ■iccompany the team for America. If any Australian cricketer proceeds to America without our consent he will never play cricket in Australia again.

(Received 11.55 a.m.) Melbourne, January 16. The team being organised for America is far from complete.- Invitations were extended to Armstrong, Hansford and Laver, but each declined. It is understood that Baring and Lamtwd were also invited.
