• The engagement of Mrs T. 0. McCarthy to Mr "Walter Reid, is announced from Wellington. Mrs McCarthy is the widow of the late T. G. McCarthy, who made such a magnificent bequest to Wellington Province last year. The marriages takes place at an early date.

Mrs T. McCarthy, an old resident of Ngaere, passed away at her residence, Cornwall Road, at five o'clocklast night after a short illness, at the age of 75. General sympathy will be extended to Mr McCarthy and the family in their bereavement. The interment takes place at Elthain to-rinorrow^j
