DOMINIONS COMMISSION.
EVIDENCE IN ENGLAND. Bt Electric Telegraph—Copyright i United Punas Association.! London, January 13. At the Dominions' Commission, J. Broad bank, representing the Port of London Authority, gave evidence that the rates at London were higher than at other ports, because the accommodation was better. Lands and wages were higher. A comparison of rates often ignored differing services and circumstances. There was no possibility of bringing large colonial vessels to discharge in the lieftrt of London. If it were desirable to remove the fruit market from Covent G-ardeiu to the docks, the Port Authority Mould do its utmost to meet the requirements of the trade. The general character of most of the Australian cargoes prevented part of the cargoes of fruit being discharged at special depots.

Before the Dominions Commission, Mr Austin Wilson, of the Hull-Barns-ley railway, who recently toured. He recommended a moderate subsidy from the Overseas Dominions for at least a year until the service became selisuppo'ting. Mr Boss .Johnson, general manager of the Port of Bristol, testified to the inadequate steamship service to Australia and New Zealand, adding that New Zealand and other Overseas countries asked for better facilities for trading with a largo area directly served through Bristol.
Three Blue Books of minutes of evidence taken by the Dominions Commission in Australia and New Zealand have been issued, of which OG2 pages are devoted to tho Commonwealth, and 23,'i to Now Zealand.
