Ho, the founder of the commercial press in Shanghai, the finest printing works in Asia, publishing annually 1000 educational works, was shot dead in the street. The murderer was arrested.

The crime was due to revenge for Ho’s inviting the municipality to assume control of the Chapei suburb during the rebellion in July to prevent it becoming the headquarters of the revolutionaries.

Ho was a Christian and a. generous mp foyer.
